The buzz of voices filled his ears with the annoying American twang, giving rise to a headache. Mark pressed two fingers to his right temple, closing his eyes for a moment. These people talked too much. How could they stand to listen to each other?
"Hey! Close it out!"
The shouted command brought a swift end to the conversations and all eyes turned toward two men standing near the staircase. One of them, the one who had shouted, was wearing a brown round hat and a sharply creased uniform. The other wore captain's bars on the collar of his blue uniform jacket. Mark was grateful for the silence the pair's presence had brought over the lobby.
"This is what's going to happen. You're all going to line up in alphabetical order with your class schedules in hand and we'll assign you a battle buddy and a room in the barracks. You will move to your assigned room and drop your bags off there. Everyone will be back here within thirty minutes, more than enough time. Is that understood?"
There were nods from the crowd. The man in the brown round consulted the clipboard in his hands and did not look up at the students again. "Make it happen."
Motion seized the lobby as the students sought out their spot in the line-up. Mark was pushed and jostled roughly in the commotion, much to his chagrin. At length he found his place in the order, behind a skinny boy with glasses. He hoped he would be paired with a good buddy.

Luke shoved his way toward the edge of the crowd as people shuffled around, knowing he would be able to find his place in the order easily enough. There were only a few students ahead of him in the line, seemingly already in the correct order. Better make sure.
"Hey, what's your name?" "Buckley," the guy in front of him answered. Luke pointed at the guy behind him. "And yours?" "Benson." "You go here, you go here." Luke said, directing each one to the right spot in line. He moved down the line, guiding people to where they should be. When he was done he hurried to his own place and waited for the next command.
"All set?" The man in the brown round asked, sounding bored. "Good." He started calling off names and people stepped forward to get their buddy and room assignments. Luke was seventh in line and learned he would be living in Room 34 with some foreign exchange student from Europe. Wonderful! He had hoped he would be paired with one of the guys he'd met on the flight from New York. Damn.
Oh well. Might as well meet his new battle buddy and hope that the guy wasn't too big a jerk.

A young male, who looked rather punk-ish and irresponsible, leaned against a wall next to the staircase, watching everyone. The good thing for this young male was that his father had been considered a War Hero and Legend for reasons that his father never discussed with him. This boy's name was Daniel Luis Wolfe Jr., But almost everyone who knew his name called him Danny. At the moment, he wore punk-ish clothes; baggy black cargo pants, black steel toed boots, a black beret{French hat}, and a camoflouge zip up hoodie. Danny's dark gray, almost black, eyes glared at the two men. Danny sighed, took his hat off and stuffed it into his pocket, then put his hood up and crossed his arms over his chest, pretending to ignore the people around him....

His battle buddy was a solid-looking male in a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Mark barely nodded at the fellow before moving away through the crowd. The guy was probably one of those people that Americans called a jock. As long as the fellow kept to himself, Mark would too.
Over across the room, he noticed a male standing by himself, arms folded. Curious, the Londoner crossed the bustling floor.
"Oi, bloody crazy round here, eh? I'm Mark." He said, holding out his hand.

"Hmm?" Danny looked up and over at Mark. "Hello, Mark. Name's Daniel Wolfe Jr., But you can call me Danny." Danny added, pushing himself off the wall and shook Mark's hand....

"Well met! Have you found out who your battle buddy is yet?" Mark enquired, offering a smile. His own battle buddy was probably already moving his stuff into their room. He would do the same shortly.

"No. If they're doing this by last names, I'm most likely at the bottom of the list. Besides, I work alone." Danny replied, taking his hood off, revealing maroon colored hair, it was slightly floofed on the left, making it cover his left eye. He then took out his black French hat and placed it on his head, then went back to leaning on the wall....
